Ion taps Sternberg for SVP role

Ion Media Networks has tapped Steve Sternberg to run the company's sales research division as senior v.p., reporting to Ion sales prexy Stephen Appel.Sternberg has worked in media research at companies including Magna Global, McCann Erickson, TN Media and Bozell. The position is a new one - Sternberg will work out of Ion's NY office and will develop sales research presentations for agencies and clients, along with audience analysis. Sternberg has been working at Ion as a consultant during the past year.Ion emerged from bankruptcy in December 2009 after expunging some $2.7 billion in legacy debt; the station and network owner is now owned by a bondholder group.
